The Traditions of the Dead: Adventures in Historical Tourism

Hey all, Lisa sent me an e-mail asking if could put her on the list of my "blog from Italy." I hadn't really figured it as a blog, but maybe in fact it is. So, here is a more proper web-log. In order to give it some shape, I've decided to center it around popular notions of history -- fitting, I think, since so much of Italian tourism is "historic." The title of the blog is a reference to a quote by Karl Marx, from an essay on the philosophy of history (he was more than just a critical economist and a failed prophet). I hope that focusing these writings doesnt' make them too pedantic; I hope y'all can make it through.
